Cheryl Bowlson, President & CEO
As an innovative leader and strong advocate of diversity and economic inclusion, Cheryl Bowlson’s extensive knowledge and background provides practical perspectives in the area of business and workforce diversity, and minority, women and small business development.
With nearly 40 years of experience, Cheryl Bowlson is a performance-driven, accomplished expert in the business and workforce diversity program development and administration disciplines. She has been consistently recognized for assisting clients in achieving and exceeding their business and workforce diversity goals, and assisting minority, women and small businesses in growing their capacity.
Prior to launching Cheryl Bowlson Consulting, LLC in 2011, Bowlson served as the Director of Business and Workforce Diversity at Barton Malow Company. In this role, she developed special procurement programs and workforce compliance processes for multi-million dollar public and private construction projects, assessed capabilities of minority, women and small business firms for partnering and subcontracting opportunities.
Bowlson also educated and trained employees on the value of business and workforce diversity inclusion, and provided companywide leadership in the recruitment, hiring and retention of diverse high-performing talent.
Bowlson’s career in diversity began with the City of Detroit where she was responsible for certifying Detroit-based minority- and women-owned businesses to bid on city contracts. She also monitored the city’s construction projects to ensure workforce compliance standards were achieved.
Bowlson holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Science in retailing from Michigan State University. She is a member of the Council of Supplier Diversity Professionals.
